Review: Candy Time by Preferred Fragrance: Impression of Honey by Mariah Carey

First I just want to apologize for how long it has been since I have posted on here. It has been a busy few months and I am hoping to get caught up and post more regularly.

So here is another Preferred Fragrance review. So Candy Time is the knock off of one of Mariah Carey’s fragrances from her Lollipop Bling Set. In this set there were three original fragrances all named after 3 of her hit songs. The roller ball set, which I do own, come in the shape of lollipops. Honey is the yellow one out of the set. Honey is exactly as it sounds. It is a very honey like sweet smell. It is probably my second favorite out of the three perfumes from this set.

I was excited to find an impression of this perfume. It comes in a box which reminds me a lot of the box that Honey comes in when you buy a full size bottle. The box has lollipops all over it and is super cute. The full size bottle of Honey comes in Mariah Carey signature perfume bottle which is a round shaped bottle with an adorable butterfly shaped lid. One of the things that I love about this knock off brand is that they try to keep their perfumes in similar packaging to the real perfume. In this case the bottle does not resemble the real bottle at all. However, I will say that I have noticed Preferred Fragrance keeps their Mariah Carey knock offs in the same shaped bottles. These bottles are great quality glass bottles that have a sort of jewel shape. The lids are quite cheap and break easy but are cute as well.

Candy Time definitely has a honey like scent. This perfume is a sort thicker, heavier scent that can be a little much for even someone who is obsessed with sweet fragrances (like me). When I first sprayed it on I did love it but it was so sweet that eventually it became a little too overpowering and got to the point of making me feel a bit sick. One thing for sure is this perfume lasts an extremely long time and you will smell it on yourself all day long. It does not smell identical to the real Honey at all. Other than both having a warmer honey like scent they are quite different. Honey is not as overwhelming and develops more of a perfume like muskiness after worn for a little bit while Candy Time just continues overwhelming you with its tooth hurting sweetness. Also Honey has more of a fruitiness and less of a solid sweetness. I honestly do not smell the fruitiness in Candy Time. It really just reminds me of a very sweet Candy. I do like the smell but it just can be a bit much. You will notice in the notes that they are quite different.

Honey:

Top notes are amalfi lemon, passionfruit and pineapple

Middle notes are ginger, freesia and lily

Base notes are white honey, lime (linden) blossom and musk

Candy Time:

Top Notes: Hawaiian pineapple, pink apricot and white melon

Middle notes: young petals, tempered with the depth of aquatic blossoms

Base notes: vetiver and sandalwood have a warm sensual glow

Review: Wild Flowers by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna

So this review is on Preferred Fragrances impression of Rihanna Reb’l Fleur called Wild Flowers. This perfume is extremely floral smelling. Being someone who does not particularly like flowery scents this is not a favorite of mine. I don’t hate this perfume though. It is very pretty and I think  it is a very unique scent that would be great for an evening out and maybe even day time. I think seasonally this would be best worn in the spring or summer being that it smells so strongly of flowers.

I have sampled the real Reb’l Fleur and I have to say this perfume does not smell all that similar. The impression perfume has more fruit notes in it but smells more flowery. It is no wonder the two do not smell much alike. The notes are very different in the two. There are way more scents in the impression which seem to change perfume quite a bit. The woodsy note is very strong in Wild Flowers and does not even exist in Reb’l Fleur The one thing that I do find similar about the two is the deep floral scents in both. Although they are not the same floral they are similar.

Most of Preferred Fragrances perfume bottles resemble the real perfume very closely but this is not the case with this one. I absolutely love Reb’l Fleur’s bottle but the Preferred Fragrance bottle for Wild Flowers is very plain and kind of chunky. I do like that it is a nice quality glass bottle that does not feel cheap but I wish the bottle was a little more pretty or attractive. I mean what girl doesn’t like having pretty perfume bottles on display?

So here is the note comparison

Reb’l Fleur:

-tuberose, violet and hibiscus, – with a splash of coconut water

Wild Flowers:

A sophisticated, feminine and elegant blend of Hawaiian hibiscus flower, delicious fruits including purple plums and ripe peaches deliver a great first impression. Sun goddess rose (a fresh clean hybrid), violet and coconut milk form a supportive middle. Base notes are composed of oak moss, complex exotic woods, vanilla and amber producing a lasting memory.

If you do like floral perfumes you will probably like this one. It is very pretty but not a complete dupe for Rihanna’s perfume. I purchased this perfume at Rainbow for their 3 for $10 deal. You can also find these perfumes at Family Dollar, Big Lots (sometimes), and on Preferred Fragrances website at perfumearomatics.com.

Sugar Candy by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Pink Sugar

So I have another quick review of a perfume from Preferred Fragrance. I have been reviewing these perfumes for a few months now. Preferred Fragrance is a really good Knock-off perfume brand that makes excellent imitations of designer perfumes. These perfumes are usually priced around $3.50 and can be purchased at Big Lots, Rainbow, Family Dollar and on their website at perfumearomatics.com. Some of these perfumes will amaze you with how similar they smell to the real thing. I love them and wanted to share these with anyone interested in saving some money on products we would normally spend ridiculous amounts on.

This is one of my new favorite Preferred Fragrance perfumes. It is the impression for Pink Sugar. Pink Sugar is a highly popular fragrance that basically smells just like its name. It smells like sugar or candy. While I had smelled the real perfume in the store a few times and thought it was a very pretty scent I never really felt the need to actually buy a perfume that smells like sugar and cotton candy for $60. Don’t get me wrong I love Pink Sugar but I really find it hard to find room in my budget for things like perfumes. Also if you look on You Tube you will very quickly realize there are a number of extremely low-priced dupes.

I found the Pink Sugar impression or “Sugar Candy” at Rainbow and purchased it along with two other for their 3 for $10 deal. The bottles are quite similar as with most of Preferred Fragrances perfumes. I have not compared these perfumes side by side so I cannot tell you just how similar they are but I can tell you what this perfume smells like. It smells like sugar, cotton candy and vanilla. I would think it is a pretty good guess that they will smell very similar if not exact as this does not seem to be a very complex scent. I LOVE this perfume. It is great when you don’t want something overpowering or if you don’t want to think about it when walking out the door. I feel like I could wear this all year round. You get 3 ounces of product for around $3.50 which is pretty awesome when you consider the price of a 3.4 ounce of Pink Sugar ($60.00).

I do not have the notes for this knock-off as they do not have this one listed on their website so I cannot compare the notes. I can say that this perfume was well worth the small amount of money and I would definitely purchase this again.

Hottest by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Beyonce’s Heat

So here is another perfume by the knock off brand Preferred Fragrance. Some of their fragrances really do smell very close or almost exact to what they are an impression of and some really do not. I have been very impressed with and surprised at times with the quality of their perfumes and this happens to be one of those fragrances.

Around Christmas time I found a sample size of Hottest at Family Dollar for $1.00. The sample size contains the sample perfume and a small body lotion. It smelled so amazing that I had to purchase the full size bottle when I saw it at Big Lots for $3.50. I did not even bother to take it out and smell it because I would assume they would smell the same right? Wrong. Don’t get me wrong the full size and sample both smell amazing and I love them both but they did not smell the same for some reason. I am not sure why but I do think it is important for people to know to smell these perfumes in the bottle before you buy them so you at least know what you are getting. So the sample size perfume smelled very sweet and fruity which is exactly the kind of perfume I am normally drawn to. The full size bottle (shown on the left) has a spicy, sweet, musky warm smell which I absolutely love for an evening out. It is not a perfume I would really wear during the day but a great date night fragrance. When this perfume dries down a bit it becomes a much more sweet warmth and less spicy.

So when I got the chance to smell the real Beyonce’s Heat a couple of weeks ago, I was excited to find out if they were at all similar scents. I was pretty shocked at just how similar they were. I could not really smell a difference. I sprayed a little on of my arms and when I got home I sprayed my impression on the other. I asked my husband if he could guess which was which and he could not even remotely tell the difference between the two. Now, I am not going to say my husband is the most reliable opinion on this sort of thing lol but I had to agree with him. It really was hard to find a difference although I am sure there is since the notes are not exact. So here are the notes for both perfumes for comparison:

Beyonce’s Heat:

Top notes: red vanilla-orchid, magnolia, neroli and peach

Middle Notes: honeysuckle, almond and musky cream

Base Notes: sequoia wood, tonka and amber

Hottest:

Opens with top notes somewhat peachy with a touch of sweet watermelon. With the addition of purple fig, the opening becomes a delicious Bellini cocktail. Middle and base notes of almond, cashmere musk and amber provide a seductive sensual complimenting warmth to capture your heart and his.

So overall I think this perfume is definitely worth $3.50 if you wanted to try out something similar to Beyonce’s Heat before spending the money for the real thing or if you just want a good date night type perfume. You can find these perfumes at Family Dollar, Big Lots (sometimes), Rainbow (3 for $10) and on Preferred Fragrances website at perfumearomatics.com. I am not at all associated with this company by the way I just think they are a great deal. 🙂

Review: La Vida Loca by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture

This is one of my absolute favorite Preferred Fragrance perfumes. I was so surprised when I first smelled this perfume. It smelled so similar to the real Viva La Juicy. I thought for sure this would not last very long because it seemed just too good to be true. I was wrong. I find this perfume lasts about 7 hours which is extremely good for a knock-off perfume. I purchased this 3.3 ounce bottle for 3 for $10.00 at Rainbow. When you first open this box you are immediately hit with this wonderful fragrance. It is faint, cheap or alcohol smelling like you might expect for a $3 perfume. I was so excited to wear this perfume. My husband absolutely loves when I wear this one and I have received many complements from others. The bottle is a good quality glass container with a cute plastic lid and an adorable pink bow much like Viva La Juicy. I love that it does not look cheap or generic but is adorable. The only difference I have found between the two perfumes is the strength of the scent when you initially spray it on. Everyone knows when they first spray a perfume there is a second or two where it smells very strong and breathing is not really an option unless you want to inhale some fumes. Well you don’t really get that initial gag response with La Vida Loca. It just does not smell as strong as the real version. I don’t really see this as a bad thing personally but maybe that’s just me. The notes are crazy similar in these two perfumes so it’s no wonder why they are so similar.

Viva La Juicy Notes:

Top notes: wild berries and juicy mandarin

Middle notes: honeysuckle, gardenia and jasmine

Base notes: amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and pralines

La Vida Loca Notes:

The scent of wild berries surrounded by mandarin and honeysuckle with the barest hint of gardenia and jasmine accents this precious start. The counterpoint is balanced with notes of amber, sandalwood and praline. Sexy and naughty. $3.99 each

If you love Viva La Juicy I recommend checking this perfume out. Even if you just want to give it a try and do not want to go out and spend the money on the real one just yet. This is just a great perfume and it is definitely worth checking out.

Preferred Fragrance perfumes can be purchased at Rainbow, Family Dollar, Big Lots and on their website at pefumearomatics.com. I am not associated with this company and these are my own, honest opinions.

Review: Love Wishes by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Peace, Love and Juicy Couture

Okay so I am going to start by saying that I have never smelled Peace, Love and Juicy Couture but I have looked up a ton of reviews on it and have found that not many people enjoy this perfume at all.  I have read reviews that said it smells like deodorant or just too woodsy. I thought I would still review the impression though and let you know what I think of it. I have to say that this is not my favorite “impression” perfume. It really is just not my taste in perfumes. It has a pretty sweet smell but is not as fruity as some of my favorites. It has maybe a hint of florals and what I can only describe as a slight musky scent. This may be something others love but I don’t enjoy very much. It does smell like something I might wear more in the summer time. It does not last an incredibly long time on my skin like some of the others that I have tried. It is more faint and I find that it lasts maybe two or three hours at best. The appearance is probably easily my favorite part of this perfume. It is an adorable glass bottle with a pink ring accent around the top. It has a patterned bottom and a good quality plastic lid. It does not look cheap and is adorable to have out on display in your room like so many of us love to do with our perfumes. It does resemble Peace, Love and Juicy Couture in its shape but does not have the adorable little charm that comes with real perfume. Like I said I am not sure on the resemblance in the scent but please leave a comment if you know if these two smell at all similar. I would love to know. Okay so here are the notes for both perfumes:

Peace, Love and Juicy Couture:

Top notes: Meyer lemon, wild hyacinth, sweet apple and black currant buds absolute

Middle notes: Sambac jasmine absolute, star magnolia, Malibu poppy, honeysuckle and linden blossom

Base notes: iris root extract, patchouli blossom and sensual musk

Love Wishes:

It’s sparkling top note blends the unique freshness of an airy botanical garden peaking with a dominant Chinese ginger flower accord. The body of fragrance blends exotic florals including mountain dew orchid spring mimosa. Warmth is cleverly achieved with a careful blend of soft cashmere woods and ambergris providing long-lasting feminine sensuality

So as you can see they sound different but they may very well produce the right smell. I have been so impressed with some of Preferred Fragrances perfumes and I would not doubt this may smell close to the real thing. I personally think they are great to try out more expensive perfumes before you go out and purchase the expensive versions. I would rather waste $3.50 then $60.00 anyday. I found this one again at Big Lots but they are also at Family Dollar, Rainbow and on Preferred Fragrances website perfumearomatics.com. Rainbow has they 3 for $10 though and has the largest selection. So go check this one out and let me know what you guys think if you smell it.

Review of Precious Heart by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of Glam Princess by Vera Wang

Okay So here is another perfume from Preferred Fragrance. Precious Heart is a very girly, sweet and fruity smell. It comes in an adorable heart-shaped bottle very similar to the Glam Princess bottle. The bottle is glass and it is topped with a cute plastic lid. When you first spray this perfume you definitely get a bit of a sour or citrusy sweet smell. As the perfume wears down though it softens up a lot. Glam Princess is also in a very cute heart-shaped bottle but the bottle has little pink stars all over it and is topped with an adorable crown with jewels. The box is very similar to the Precious Heart which is what caught my eye when buying the Impression. Precious Heart lasts around 5 hours but it is a soft smell. Glam Princess lasts a little longer but not much. Glam Princess however, is a lot stronger when you first spray it. When Glam Princess wears down a bit it smells super soft and kind of powdery. Glam Princess is a very pretty smell as well. When comparing the two fragrances you can notice a difference. Although they are both soft and sweet fragrances there is definitely a difference between the two. Unlike NY Fashion this impression is not identical to the smell but is a similar fragrance or idea.   If you look at the notes found in both fragrances this makes sense as the notes are very different:

GLAM PRINCESS BY VERA WANG:

Top Notes: crushed red currant, juicy guava and pear.

Middle Notes: orange blossom and vanilla orchid.

Base Notes: ambrette seed, sugar marshmallow and soft cashmere wood.

PRECIOUS HEART BY PREFERRED FRAGRANCE:

Vibrantly feminine floralcy of rose, tuberose, lavender and carnation with some initial hints of watermelon and fresh citrus. A warm background accord of orris, sandalwood, moss and amber complete the radiant aura

Needless to say I like both scents very much. Both are very girly and not overpowering. They would be great smells to wear during the day. I love Precious Heart because it has more of a fruity scent to it. I think again for price this is a great deal. Even though this is not a complete dupe for the real thing it smells amazing and is worth checking out. I bought mine at Big Lots for $3.50 but they can also be found at Family Dollar, Rainbow and perfumearomatics .com. I am not associated with Preferred Fragrance and these are my own actual opinions of these products.

Review of NY Fashion by Preferred Fragrance; Impression of SJP NYC Sarah Jessica Parker

I am starting off my reviews of the Preferred Fragrance Perfume’s with the very first one that I purchased. It is called NY Fashion. The names of these perfumes are often kind of silly but the quality is amazing for the prices. I will start off by saying that I have smelled the real SJP NYC and to be honest I was shocked at just how similar the smells were. This is basically the point where I became addicted to these perfumes. I was walking through Big Lots when I spotted it and was so excited since I had wanted this perfume for a while but just had never had the budget to be buying things like perfume which is usually pretty low on my list of priorities. To my amazement not only was the smell amazing but it was only $3.50. I figured it was worth it to at least give it a try. Now I did not really know what to expect when it came to how long it would last on my skin but was pleasantly surprised that it last 5-6 hours or more. I find using a good unscented moisturizer on the areas you are applying the perfume really makes a difference on the lasting quality. It also helps if you purchase the actual body lotion which I do have now. It also helps to spray a little on clothing or in your hair (note: perfumes can stain clothing so don’t soak your clothing; the perfume is also not the greatest for your hair but this is just what I do) if you have trouble keeping perfume on your skin like me.

Look wise they bottles are very similar. Even though SJP NYC is a mostly pink bottle and the NY Fashion is red they both have the same sort of idea which is patterns which are supposed to be like fabric all around the bottle. NY Fashion is in a very nice, quality glass container while SJP NYC is in a plastic/tin casing (online it said both so I am not sure which is correct although I remember it being more plastic looking) and has a pull out bottle on the inside. I find I like the look of the packaging for both but the plastic look makes it a bit more cheap looking and the packaging seems like a bit of a waste. Also NY Fashion is 3.3 ounces while SJP NYC’s is a 2 ounce bottle.

Smell wise they are very similar. They both come across to me as very fruity and sweet with a little bit of a muskiness as it wears down. I love the smell but realize fruity, sweet smells are not for everyone. In the future I will definitely be purchasing the real SJP NYC mostly because I am a fan of her. Right now though I will stick with the knock off version as it is a great deal.

Here are the notes for SJP NYC:

Here is the description for NY Fashion from the site:

An opening fruity accord sets the stage for this playful, feeling of freedom, and unlimited possibilities of NYC. Vivacious wild strawberry, mandarin, delicious apple and grapefruit are blended perfectly to intoxicate. Support is garnished with lush gardenia, vanilla absolute, red rose and mimosa. Base notes of sandalwood and oak moss form the tenet of unquestionable style and individuality. $3.99 each

NY Fashion is not associated with the maker SJP

You can find these fragrances at a few places. Family Dollar sells them for $3.00- $3.50. Big Lots sells them for $3. 50 a bottle and also has gift sets. Rainbow shops have them for $4.99 or 3 for $10.00 and has the best selection out of the stores I have been to. They can also be purchased off Preferred Fragrances website http://www.perfumearomatics.com/. They are listed for $3.99 on the site but if you enter the code on the home page you can get the price down to $3.49 but you will be charged for shipping. These fragrances really are great quality and these are definitely my own opinions and I am not at all associated with this company. I will be doing another review very soon so please check back.
